HISTORY

The tower of the Acciaiuoli Palace was built by the Buondelmonti family (one of the two families that start, in Florence, the struggle between Guelfi and Ghibellini parties ) about at the end of the 13th century. One of the most famous owners of the tower was Nicolò Acciaiuoli, Gran Siniscalco (manager of the properties) of the Kingdom of Naples, that includes the tower in its palace in the year 1341.
The Palace is completely made by stones, takes its actual shape after the 19th century restructuring, that have privileged its medieval forms, in fact the Palace today looks like a fortress as the Bargello.

The tower, one of the higher of Florence, is now used by the guests of the Hotel Torre Guelfa to admire the skyline of Florence and, or tasting the wines of the Chianti in a amazing atmosphere.
